They seem to find any way (and don't have to justify) to not pay out (despite following the rules)! Expensive to use with 'booking fee' AND credit card charge, particularly when CB declined. Won't use again!
Alternative sites are available. Although you don't get cashback, they don't charge any fees - So better value overall.

For no reason what-so-ever that I can see, my cashback has been refused by thetrainline.
It wasn't for a great deal of money (original purchase was £17.80) but I'm very disappointed to be told I get nothing from them.
I didn't cancel my ticket, I didn't use another promotional code at the same time, I totally can't understand why I'm not being allowed what is due to me.
If I buy an expensive train ticket I either, won't be using thetrainline, or will try another cashback site.

Although this was only £0.21 as I am not using trains a lot. Payment become ZERO payable after 3 months and can't be ars... to make a claim. Poor simples!!!

As others have mentioned, beware the completely hidden booking fee (£1) and credit card AND Paypal fee (£3.50) when buying tickets through the site. I'd recommend using this site to check train times and see if the're cashback through the specific train operator's web site.

I came to trainline after despairing of the Southern Railways website. Trainline is not worth it either. The percentage cashback on ticket (as opposed to hotel) purches is tiny, and more than taken back by the £1 booking fee, let alone the £3.50 they sting you for if you pay by credit card.

Cashback did not track. Topcashback were excellent and after submitting a claim the cashback appeared in my list. Unfortunately it has now gone down to £0 and is payable. I definitely followed the rules and did not use any promotional codes etc so I am not sure why it was rejected. I resent paying the extra handling fee to buy online but I was expecting the cashback to counter that. I will not be using thetrainline again if I can help it, and certainly will not expect to receive cashback from them.

Cash back tracked quickly. It's a shame that cash back offered not as high as southern railways but trainline is more reliable for cash back being tracked. If removed booking fee would use more often when booking tickets

Tracked very quickly for a ticket from Berwick to Portsmouth. The cash-back basically covered my booking fee, so not a great deal. But better than nothing.

Unfortunately the booking fees now charged by thetrainline often exceed the amount of cashback you would get: £1 for any booking and £2+ for credit cards. So you'd need to be buying some expensive train tickets to make it worthwhile...

First time I've used them and can't fault them. Easy to use site, had a good deal, cash back tracked within 2 hours of booking. My tickets arrived the next day. Highly recommended.

Great to use when buying group tickets as you get more than buying one or two tickets, would be better if the cashback amount was slightly higher though!
Always tracks within 24hours for me and you pretty much get tickets within two/three days after purchase!
