Very poor experience. I ordered guest membership for a friend's birthday present a whole month in advance, yet despite my phoning the NT 4 times and being given 2 promises of sending out the gift membership pack in time for the birthday, it did not arrive. Eventually I had to drive 16 miles to my nearest National Trust property and pick up a pack myself! I was also told that a specialist advisor would call me back in 24 hours - and this call came 7 days later - a week after the gift was due to be given. I am actually a member myself and have never been treated this way before.

As with a previous poster, bought gift membership before Christmas. Was sent a confirmation e-mail, temporary membership card and the cashback tracked. Checked with the gift recipient and they've not received anything. Called NT and they have no record of the transaction (despite the confirmation e-mail)! They've now set it up manually. Cashback has not yet been confirmed, so I'll wait and see.

Signed up for family membership in August. Pack and card arrived quickly but cashback has not been forthcoming. Now showing as £0 when I was hoping for over £12 back. Disappointing as I probably wouldn't have joined without the cashback offer making it a good deal.

Cashback tracked at 40%, seemed to pay relativly quickly. Getting membership is another matter however. Signed up in JULY, yes JULY. The 3 month temporary membership card has expired, called member support and told would have to register again and be sent a new pack as they had no record of me...no record? they have sent me a membership email and paid cashback! Gave details again, still no membership, called again and told tough, they would send another pack but this would take 2weeks to arrive. If I want to visit a property I have to ask them to call member support to prove I can get in. Awful customer service, must have very outdated computer systems, no reply to emails sent from their website, Will not continue membership next year unless there is a vast improvment
