Teapot Trust

Founded in 2010 by the Young Family, the Teapot Trust was established to provide professional art therapy to children and young people coping with chronic illness, in particular those suffering from complex rheumatological conditions including Lupus. Art Therapy is a way of helping children cope with long term medical conditions. We know that long term health problems can cause anxiety, anger or upset for children and their families, and may be difficult to talk about. Art Therapy offers a safe space for children and young people to explore issues that may arise, providing a way of expressing and dealing with difficult feelings using non-verbal communication. Being in the creative process often leads to being able to access words and share worries in ways previously not possible, helping children and young people gain confidence, feel more in control and cope with their condition.
