Looks like I am in a small but satisfied minority. I received my £50 cash back from tcb and also my £50 from the bank into my account. Switching service went through no problem- despite my mistrust that it wouldn't. When i did this, tcb had specified that you had to submit a missing cashback claim as a matter of course and then the cashback would not be paid until the new account was all up and running with all D/D transfers done etc. I wonder if those having problems did all this?

Now two weeks after I applied for this account. Soon after so doing I read the reviews and my heart sank; looks like yet another rogue merchant who continues to be promoted on here with attractive cashback offers they have no intention of paying. I considered cancelling the application but decided to proceed. They have set up the account without any undue fuss and it all seems to work. However, no sign of ANY tracking - and even when it does I have practically no confidence in them paying up. I lodged an enquiry giving TCB my concerns, only to be met with the usual platitudes and (red rag to a bull) the disclaimer that cashback isn't "guaranteed" and that I should never make a purchase based on the cashback. That must be why TCB encourages teams of its members to achieve as much cashback as possible and promotes the highest payers with utter disregard for the feedback from existing customers on here. I'd love to know how a transaction which is easily identified (i.e. I have a current account number etc.) and which has fulfilled the various specified terms and conditions can then be declined (according to nearly everyone who has taken the trouble to report their experiences with the merchant) with utter inpunity. TCB glibly then throw up their hands and claim it's a "merchant decision" and the aforementioned statemtns apply. SO - why bother HAVING terms and conditions? My transaction has neither tracked nor been declined - but it flies in the face of fairness, customer service or basic decency for a merchant to behave as this one seems likely to yet be welcomed back on TCB with open arms knowing it can do and say whatever it likes without and consequences. I DO hope I'm wrong, BUT....!

Applied for Halifax Reward account back in December. Did not track, so submitted claim to TopCashback. Topcashback was very usefull, but explained my cashback was simply refused by the merchant network. Don't open the account for simply the cashback, walk into a branch they offered me £30 to switch my accounts.

It seems like I am the only one who've got at least something positive about Halifax cashback offer! :) The transaction still hasn't tracked through after submitting suggested by Topcashback manual claim. Although, re: simonsimon, I have got promised on Halifax bank website 50 GBP cashback directly from the bank, though I had to go to my local branch and ask them, how about my cashback offer? 3 days later 50 pounds were on my bank account. So it is worth asking in local branch about the cashback if you got the offer when applied on Halifax website. And another positive thing - 5 pounds monthly just for having account and paying in 1000 is nice! Hopefully 50 GBP from Topcashback will get paid eventually! :)

That's what I've got as a response from Topcashback (applied for the reward account with Halifax in August 2010): "We have recently heard back with regards to your missing commission claim. It is with regret that your claim has not been approved"

Like so many before me I have not received cashback from the Halifax. I was told, after 6 months, that I did not qualify as neither my original transaction nor info in my claim could be traced! I am aware that cashback is never 100% guaranteed but there are many other TCB members having the same issue as me!!!

CONSPIRACY!!! Like so many others I did everything by the book and after several queries over several months - REJECTED! I know it tracked through topcashback because it was listed (at the time) and also appeared within the list when I raised the initial query - so Topcashback have a record. I also have the bank account with the account number specified so Halifax have a record. So how come both parties cannot link the two together - it just doesn't make sense! I'm beginning to suspect some internal conspiracy at Topcashback - I think there keeping the Halifax cashback for their office parties. I'd have given zero stars for the cashback if I could!! I'd like someone from TopCashBack and the Halifax to explain how and why all these transactions fail when both parties have a record. I'll give you 7 days before I ask Ann and Matt at Watchdog to investigate you on my behalf. :-(

As with a lot of other topcashbackers, i had to make a manual claim and make loads of nudges. After waiting nearly 7 months was told cashback claim unsuccessful. Waste of time even bothering. I note however that you now have to enter your name and details prior to going onto the Halifax website.

This was a disaster and a scam. Halifax are dangling a carrot and everyone is changing their accounts to get this supposed cash-back. Don't waste your time. I have been with them for years and have gone back again and again to get this sorted and I am moving all my savings and current accounts away. Best of luck if you are still fighting your corner. Topcashback should remove them from this site as it must be wasting their time too trying to sort everyone's claims out and Halifax not paying out. I am going to look into the consumer legal side of things on this as I am sure this is illegal what they are doing...

After 3 months waiting for cashback since opening my account, have just had my claim rejected by Halifax. My experience with the Bank has been mixed, with mistakes being made in the transfer of from my previous bank. Altogether, although I am being paid £5 per month for opening a current account with them, I would not recommend Halifax banking services and plan to move to another provider soon.

Cashback finally declined after 6 months or so, April 1st...hmmm, maybe a connection?! The bank account is OK, the customer service acceptable by and large, the cashback was obviously just a con to get you to switch. I appreciate that TCB always say it's never guaranteed that you will get the cashback, but with such a high amount of offered cashback and seemingly a number of non-payments it is evident Halifax shouldn't be on the site! I think we should all write direct to them!

BEWARE. The odds are you will not get your cashback. 1st April 2011 : rejected after transferring to Halifax Reward Account 5 months ago. I am just one of a long line of many. This is not a building society to do business with.

I applied for two current accounts with Halifax in March via TCB and neither cashback claim has been answered still after all this time, even with multiple nudges sent. No cashback received still, very poor both o nthe part of Halifax (for not paying up) and TCB falsely advertising an offer which is not being honoured in the MAJORITY of cases. Not good enough TCB. Better off using the main rival cashback site which seems to have a better record in paying up in my experience over the last 3 years. Come on TCB, sort this Halifax fiasco out now and get our cashback to us promptly!

Another tale of woe. Absolutely no reason why i should have been refused cashback, but i was. Quite frankly, it's disgraceful. Given that this seems to be happening to large amounts of people, it amounts to fraud. I won't be using topcashback again.

Stay away. Just same as everyone else, no cashback, no explanation. My girlfriend was going to move too, but was wary of this offer (wish I'd listened). Of course, (hopefully) like everyone else, I'll be telling people to stay away from this bank after being duped like this and will be moving my account to show my disapproval. Amazing really, of all the companies I've used TCB with, the one company you would expect to honour the payment is the most dishonest!
