Buyer beware.
The price Avis charge you on the web site is nothing like the price they will try and change you when you rent. Watch out as Avis are adding items to their bills that are covered in the internet contract as well as adding extras that they are unable to explain. It is worth standing your ground as they eventually back down to some extent. I managed to get them to reduce their charges by over $200 on one car, but still ended up paying more than initially agreed.
This happened to me twice on a recent trip and also to a colleague - so it does not seem to be a one off.
My recommendation - only use Avis if you have no other options - and always double check the bill to see what has been added.

Hired a car 5 or 6 months ago and despite chasing this up a couple of times, Avis have never paid up the £15.98 due.
