The Jigsaw brand was launched in 1970, when John Robinson opened the first store in Brighton.

This was quickly followed by another in Hampstead, London, two years later. The brand rapidly began to make an impact on the fashion scene and 1989 saw them win the British Fashion Council Award for Designer of the Year.

Due to the success of their womenswear collection, they decided to launch a menswear range in 1994 and then Jigsaw Junior two years later, while 1996 also saw Jigsaw stores opened in Tokyo and Denmark. The turn of the century saw bags and shoes added to the collection, while their first American store opened in Los Angeles in 2004.

The Shop at Bluebird — one of London's first concept stores — opened in 2005, offering a mix of carefully edited fashion, homeware items and vintage finds, while the Duke Street Emporium, which brought together Jigsaw and The Shop at Bluebird under one roof for the first time, opened in 2014. Jigsaw now have stores throughout the UK, as well as across the world.
