In the 2024 event, there was an extra 20% off across the site. FARFETCH was founded in 2007 by José Neves, who grew up in the Portuguese city of Porto, where his grandfather owned a shoe factory.

At the age of 22, he launched a footwear brand named Swear and opened a store in London, while 2001 saw him start a retail fashion store called b Store on London's Savile Row. FARFETCH launched in 2008 by selling products from 25 boutiques in five countries.

By 2010, the number of boutiques had risen to 64. By 2014, their partner network had expanded to include more than 300 boutiques in 35 countries, and the following year saw more boutiques and first direct brand partners join the platform, including some from new supply markets in Japan and Australia.

That same year saw them acquire renowned boutique Browns, while by 2016, they had almost 500 boutique and 200 direct brand partners. Natalie Massenet, who had founded the designer fashion portal NET-A-PORTER, joined FARFETCH as non-executive co-chairman in 2017 — the same year they launched a 90-minute delivery service in 10 cities across four continents and acquired style.com. March 2018, meanwhile, saw them welcome their first department store partner, Harvey Nichols.
