Happy Children at Half Term

What to do over the holidays can sometimes fill parents with dread and anxiety. We can assure you there is no need to panic though. We have put together a few ideas to try and give you a little bit of inspiration of the type of things you can do to keep your mini-you entertained.

Get Out and About Safely

Just because your little darlings aren’t at school, doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. Satisfy their curiosities by stepping back in time. A trip to the museum or historic place of interest is a great way to learn something exciting and new whilst having a fun-packed adventure. There are many interactive and thrilling places that will help your youngsters discover something new without even realising. Check out the cashback deals you can get here.

If the hyperactive sugar-filled sleepovers are sending the little dears crazy, then a breath of fresh air could work wonders. If the weather permits then an outdoor adventure really could burn away all of their energy, resulting in a little peace and quiet when you get home. Theme Parks are great for those thrill-seeking, fun-loving youngsters. If your little ones are less adventurous, then a trip to the Zoo or Safari Park is an exciting way to view some extraordinary creatures and possibly bring home a little furry momento (stuffed of course). We have a number of fantastic cashback deals here to make your money go further, so there’s a little extra left over for a visit to the gift shop afterwards.

The Big Screen Adventure

Cinema

A great day out that will tend to keep tykes of all ages quiet and happy is a good old fashioned family cinema day. Why pay full price though? Check out where you can save with some cashback here. Now the cinemas are open, there are some fantastic family-friendly films to watch.

If you are a little hesitant about stepping outside and venturing to the cinema then why not make a den and prepare for some home-screenings? Grab your favourite snacks, switch on some fairy lights and create a magical space to set the mood for some amazing films. Check out Disney+ for an array of films, suitable for all the family. Fancy creating the ultimate home cinema set up? Get yourself a projector from our tech category, to amplify your home cinema experience. There are also many options for buying new films on DVD, of course we will throw in some cashback here too.

Fill their Stomachs

Baking

Cooking sessions are a great way to keep the little ones entertained and make some tasty treats, just remember that supervision is key. Why not try making pizzas? Allow the children to decorate their base with their favourite toppings and reap the rewards with a super yummy pizza, packed with flavour.

If you’re looking for something sweet for dessert then cookies are a must. Whether you use a kit or a home-made recipe, the possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating and cutting the scrumptious dough into creative designs. Just a warning though, you could be finding hundreds and thousands behind cushions and in socks for days afterwards. Find cashback on all your ingredients needed here.

Time to Get Creative

Getting crafty is always a treat, there is nothing the munchkins like more than getting messy with art materials. It can be so easy too.

Why not try making a bird feeder out of an orange! You only need one orange for two feeders. Simply cut it in half scoop out the insides, so the wee ones also get a mushy healthy treat! Pierce some holes in either side of each orange half and attach string. Then mix together birdseed and lard, pop it in the orange and hang up the feeder. You get some peace and quiet whilst they wait for the birds and wildlife to come along and feast on their hard work.

All small fry’s love to paint surely, but why let them have all the fun. Introduce cork painting to them, paint a background such as a tree bark and use a wine cork dipped in paint to make up the rest of the picture.

There is cashback available on all the resources you will need to recreate these ideas or any of your own here.

We have tried to give you at least a few ideas to do things this half term but if you have any more then please feel free to share the knowledge. We genuinely hope you have the loveliest time and look forward to hearing all your stories.

Rlcooper4 June 2021, 21:18 Make some egg cress heads, by using empty egg shell, decorate with some googly eyes, and make a face then fill with cotton wool, and sprinkle some cress seeds, and then alittle water , now watch them grow hair.
Or just simply bake some cookies
dolphindotty4 June 2021, 14:13 Let the children plant vegetable seeds so that they can watch them grow and learn where their food comes from. This can be done indoors if you don't have a garden, as tomatoes and other things can be fully grown in pots indoors.
If you don't have any space in the garden then use pots for different seeds, or plant vegetable and salad seeds in between flowers and other plants.
Then let them cook the produce for themselves, under supervision of course.
