I booked a hire car on 10/5/18 for £525, expecting 6% cash back as advertised. This tracked in my account showing I was due £31.52. I have chased this with Topcashback several times who initially explained it had been rejected without an explanation, then resurrected it back into a 'pending status' awaiting payment. I contacted Argus Car Hire direct who weren't in the least interested and provided me with a worthless reply saying that only Topcashback could deal with my query. I booked this in good faith and Argus Car hire have not honoured their promise to me. I have not had a problem in receiving cash back with any other vendor. I will certainly not be using Argus Car Hire again.

Was hiring a car for a week in nz the third party car company took 3 attempts to pick up our call to get us from the airport, waited about an hour. Then the car they tried to give us was filthy on the interior and looked like it had been in a few accidents. They also hadn't filled up the petrol tank and assumed we would be happy with half a tank, when it was supposed to be full to full not half to half. We decided to go with another company which provided a better service and argus decided not to give us any sort of refund for there terrible pick of a third party hire company. Saying we should have called them instead of email them when we were on roaming charges and pretty much just wanted to get on with our holiday

Cashback declined for car hire that I booked and used in May 2018. No reason given and TCB said they cannot chase Argus. Poor show!

Extremely dissatisfied with Argus. I cancelled my booking. However, they apparently never received this. After opening a case and having a number of issues I am no better off. I never leave negative reviews but feel people need to be very careful when dealing with this company. I waited nearly 2 months for a response and they are still unwilling to refund.

Woeful tracking. I've used Argus a lot and it never tracks properly and their claims procedure is woefully slow (and I've yet to have a successful claim). It's a shame because they've often got great pricing.

Book your car with argus car hire (cartrawler). Get a competitive price! Take out the cheap and comprehensive axa insurance to save £££s at the rental desk! Then, pay the extra insurance at the rental desk anyway as the rental company don't accept the axa insurance offered through cartrawler! Then get charged £50 vehicle cleaning when you return the car! And finally, relax as cartrawler have no interest in resolving your complaints or extra charges!! Yes, book with argus car hire (cartrawler) if you like to pay the listed price, then pay some more, and then an extra little kickback at the end. These guys are just as crooked as the rental companies. Their response? "We are just an introductory service." No you are not. EHarmony is an introductory service.. you are a rental broker. Find a deal, then go direct to the company. At least you'll only get shafted by the rental company and not the comparison agents/brokers.

ArgusCarHire is increasing it's prices when you go through TopCashBack which negates the cashback. If you go direct to their website without the referral you get a better price without cashback.

The car hire price was OK and the supplier in Portugal was fine but purchase didn't track so I raised a tracking claim. That was successful but now cashback has been declined for no apparent reason as I always clear cookies and log back in for these type of transactions. If you use Argus, don't rely on getting any cashback

Deal seemed pretty good. Car hired through Budget in Orlando. Tried to get us to upgrade vehicle then tried applying extra Insurance cover for tyres etc. Did NOT inform us of the windscreen device, which they had deliberately left switched on. Turned it off same night but Budget then charged us £11.84 for a $1.25 toll that the cashier refused to accept from us. Despite initially asking us to send everything to them by email, Argus later decided they can't do anything. We booked through them, surely they have more clout than we do. Disappointed.

Quite simply DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have waited 11 months for both them and TCB to payout and and they have now declined it. Well it is their loss as I need to do a long car hire in the next month so I will not be using them or TCB. Trust me when I tell you, look elsewhere with your car hire company and your cashback choice.

Still waiting on over £10 cashback from Argus car hire. It has tracked and is still pending 6 months later. Have lodged complaint etc. but isn't progressing. Disappointing. Don't rely on getting your cashback!

Whilst I found the Topcashback experience with this merchant efficient, the product itself supplied by the merchant was suspect. I booked a car rental in Australia and was required to pay a low deposit with the balance due 5 days before collecting the car. However when I needed to clarify T & C's the customer help department referred to a different set of terms and conditions than which I had booked. The staff just read from a script and never answered my questions. I chose to cancel the booking rather than commit myself to something I had not agreed to. I did receive a prompt full refund.

Unfortunately Argus do not pay the cashback as promised. On 2 separate bookings from summer of 2013 I am still awaiting payment. Bookings were completed as scheduled, one is marked as pending and one is marked as approved but neither ever became payable. Topcashback don't do much to resolve this other than saying "wait" - but this was June and August 2013. Argus prices are OK although I believe rental companies will match or better if you call them direct and quote the price you are offered

Booked a car through Argus to collect at Alicante airport, turned out the booking was through Goldcar, and was supposed to be £78 for a week's car hire. When we arrived at the airport we had to queue for 90 minutes to get the car, after midnight before we even got to the desk. We were then charged extra for insurance (which Argus said was included) and for a full tank of diesel (we returned it with half a tank still left - no refund obviously). This brought the cost of our car hire from £78 to over £200! Also there is no sign of cashback from Argus. Avoid them, and Goldcar, like the plague!

Dont bother. Poor Service, Poor company, Poor everything. They don't honour the Cashback. I am surprised they have not been taken off the site - it reflects poorly on Topcashback. another cashback site may be the way forward.

Don't use Argus Car Hire, we arrived in Portugal on a sunday evening 9pm with our 6 children to be told they had no car for us!!! This was booked 6 months previous there should be no excuses! We ended up getting a taxi and four days into our holiday got our 8 seater car! We have never received our cash back either and reading the other reviews don't think we will either.

Argus shouldn't be allowed on the TopCashBack site. They don't honour their payments. How can it reach 'Payable' and still not be available for payout?! Appalling practice by Argus and by TopCashBack for allowing this to continue to happen.

Don't book your car with Argus if you're doing it because of the cashback, as they won't pay even if it's 'confirmed'! Also, they act as agents between customer and car hire companies and take bookings when they can't guarantee a car. I arrived in Italy and was told by car hire company that they didn't have a car for me because Argus took bookings they couldn't honour! After much arguing was finally given a car which was an inferior car to one we had booked...plenty people in the queue behind were offered two small cars when they had booked one large People Carrier!
