Worst experience ever through TopCashback. 5 months into new supplier and £40 cashback is still sat in the 'pending' queue - and that's only after I had to raise a complaint that it hadn't tracked. Good job it's cheap gas and electric or I'd be really annoyed!

I signed up to this deal back in October 2012. My first utility account went live at the end of November 2012 and I'm still waiting for my cashback. Still says pending. Plus my energy bills (Gas and Electric) have trippled even though the prices are supposed to be cheaper?!?!?!? Not happy at all!

Utter rubbish. Signed up and was told I failed the credit check and they would require a £300 deposit and I would have to complete the rest of the application over the phone i.e. dodging the cashback payment. Signed up with Co-Op Energey instead. Cashback tracked immediately everything changed over no problems. Checked my credit files just incase there was a problem I was unaware of. Just as I thought not a single issue. What was also funny was there was no sign of a search from First Utility. Wonder how many people have been fleeced out of £300 upfront for gas and elec from these clowns.

THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH. I signed up to fix my prices for 12 months and after 6 months they went and put the prices up anyway. Customer service is useless, they admitted I was being charged incorrectly and said it would be corrected on my next bill. 3 months later I was still being overcharged. Had to get the Ombudsman involved who ordered them to issue a correct bill and £50 compensation within 28 days. Three months later I finally got a correct bill after being overchangred nearly £300. 3 months after that I got my £50 compensation. In the meantime, my contract ended but they would not let me tranfer out since my account was unresolved and they put me on an extortinate tariff. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Signed up to the company for dual fuel with smart meter, currently into 4th month with company paying monthly bills, company declined cashback it's currently being investigated by top cash back and has been for last 3month and still waiting for smart meter to be fitted after company told us it would be 6wks. Not happy at all and feel like i've been ripped off with regards to cashback!

Only wants "easy" customers. Won't supply if you're off cheapest grid gas supply. Wasted two hours trying to get website to work and dealing with patronising customer disservice staff. Have to give email & phone number before they'll admit they can't help you.

A supplier that can not quote for economy 7 tariff must rule out alot of customers. A waste of my time

First Utility is the worst supplier i have ever dealt with stay back from it if you don't want any trouble. We have paid our bills but they keep sending us letters saying that we haven't and that they are going to send us to court if we don't pay! I wish i never got involved with them its safe to say that this was the biggest mistake of my life.

Avoid these scammers. All they want is £3oo up front no matter how good your history is. 20 years at same address, Perfect credit rating and on electoral register. JUST A CON FOR THEIR CASH FLOW

AVOID FIRST UTILITY LIKE THE PLAGUE - they claim they'll save you money on your tarrifs, but when you factor in the cost involved in trying to make contact with them (last time on hold for 1 hour 9 minutes) and they completely ignore your emails so you have no choice but to try and ring, what you would save on your bills you more than pay for with your own time, phone bills and sanity. I'd rather live in a field than have these fools supplying my gas/electricity. Oh and in addition, after 8 months or so they'll contact you to tell you that you owe them money and that if you don't pay it, it'll be forwarded on - so you're then back in the vicious cycle above of not being able to speak to anyone - they managed to churn out their reminder overdue bill letters no problem however.......... are the positive reviews on here made up by first utility themselves???????

I switched to this company for my elderly parents and run their account on my email but since a meter change they stopped sending bills. iI cannot submit meter reads and get fobbed off each time i ring (usually holding for 45 mins at a time) saying there is a problem with billing and will be sorted in 7 days!! it is now 3 months since last bill and this is leaving my parents distressed as they pay monthly on receipt of bill, but no bill means they can't pay (don't know what to pay) and are now effectively hundreds of pounds in arrears!! I also have duel fuel with first utility (on regular monthly payment set up, which doubled within weeks of joining) I rarely receive regular bills! the direct debit discount that accrues over the year, has not been paid approx £160. THIS COMPANY HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE -- AND JUST GIVES EXCUSES. I am currently in the process of getting a new supplier....GOOD RIDDENCE

Hello, I waited many months for a smart meter on the expensive rate of smart as standard Version3. When I finally got contacted by the smart meter fitting company called onstream it was the wrong day that I agreed, then they did not turn up at all. After 5 months I still have no smart meter and no help regarding when I will get one from either 1st Utility or onstream. They should have a maximum wait time made clear to customers so that a decision can be made on if smart as standard is a wise choice because it is not 1st utilities best rate. The cheapest rate is "isave" but to get this rate you will not get a smart meter. So effectivelly the so called free samrt meter is paid for by paying a higher rate so the longer you are made to wait for a smart meter the more that you lose. After a smart meter is eventually fitted you can transfer to an isave account apparantly.

Post 19th Jan feedback, My £50+ cash has just been transferred to the bank today and I looked at the £100+ N-Power deal, but the reviews are worse than 1st Utility so may transfer again, but not sure yet due to N-Power reviews. Still no sign of smart meter and no feed back from on site form though.

After two months no sign of smart meter. Still waiting for cash back but tracked quick. They ignore all e-mails sent on the web based e-mail form. As soon as I get my cash I'm switching again.
