Changes to car & home insurance cashback

Due to some updates from The FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), it changes the way you can earn cashback from some car & home insurance providers.

Don’t worry, these changes do not affect providers or new policies other than for some car or home insurance providers, and it will not change the way you earn cashback from other types of retailers.

Changes to earning cashback

The good news is you can still earn cashback on home and car insurance with some providers on site. These insurers are still able to continue offering cashback as they have updated their renewals policies.

You can still earn cashback if you take out a car or home insurance policy via a comparison website, including through TopCashback Compare. You can currently earn up to £42 cashback on your car insurance when you use TopCashback Compare and take out a new policy.

There are also some insurance providers who will remain on-site but will offer cashback in a different way; through what we are calling Charity Cashback.

What is Charity Cashback?

Car and home insurers offering “Charity Cashback” can be identified when searching on TopCashback. When searching you will see ‘Charity Cashback’ next to the brand name (as highlighted**).

You can still take out a policy through these insurers, but instead of earning any personal cashback in your TopCashback account, an amount will be donated to our charity partner, The Money Charity.

Who are The Money Charity?

The Money Charity is the UK’s financial capability charity. They proactively provide education, information, advice, and guidance to people of all ages, helping them manage their money well and increase their financial wellbeing. Their purpose is to empower people across the UK to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours to make the most of their money throughout their lives.

Some examples of what your cashback would help to do includes: £10 cashback would fund a financial education workshop for a child in a local school, £50 cashback would fund a financial education workshop for 5 young adults in a local college, and £100 donation would provide 15 minutes of financial wellbeing training for a community group.

Being a money-saving website ourselves and strong advocates of financial wellbeing, we felt that this charity’s ethos align perfectly with our own.
