Aviva Home Insurance Reviews

The fact they offer value policies seems to be a popular reason why our members decide to provide positive feedback having purchased home insurance from Aviva. One reviewer says they have used Aviva “many times for all insurance purchases”, while others state they have been happy with their “competitive home insurance”.

On the whole, members are also pleased with how quickly their cashback tracks and pays out, with comments including “paid out on time, tracked on time. Why can’t other merchants be like this?”, “this must be the easiest thing I have ever done - taken out home insurance and got cashback at the same time” and “just take out a policy and TopCashback do the rest”. Another of our members says their cashback was logged very quickly, confirmed and made available to them exactly when they said it would.

Aviva.co.uk has only a one-star rating on Trustpilot, though you will find many four and five-star reviews which lavish them with praise, with customers saying things like “I really like Aviva as they helped me all the way”, “quick, courteous and also the cheapest cover each time” and “every time I have dealt with Aviva they have done everything that the policy says they should do, with no issues”.

Their call centre staff are also praised for being knowledgeable and polite when resolving issues, while someone who says they have used Aviva for three years commends them on their great customer service. One customer highlights the fact that they reported the loss of a £4,000 ring at 9.30am and by 10am had received an email confirming the full amount, minus the £100 excess, was to be paid to replace it from the store it was purchased from.

I got contents Insurance with Aviva back in 2012, it tracked at a lower rate (I was expecting £64, but it tracked at £20.20) so I put in a claim in which has just been rejected! The reason given - 'policy renewal' - my previous home insurance policy was with Hastings Direct - so wasn't a renewal at all! If you look back at the TCB reviews in 2012 it seems a lot of people had problems with this one!

cashback didn't track, so I raised the issue with cashback. it took three months but have now had cashback paid.

I have just today purchased home insurance with Aviva through TCB offering £63. It tracked within 1/2 an hour, also purchased my car insurance through Aviva this became payable after 5 weeks of £73.50. Overall great days shopping with TCB.

Having had the same household insurance for over 20 years, with our latest renewal it was the last straw it had been going up £25 every year. the cover was great and nobody could compete but on doing a comparison on Aviva with full accidental cover on everything, home and garden it was coming out at £150 cheaper and with the Topcashback it was the icing on the cake. Our claim had to be put on ice for 3 months from inception date and then we waited a few weeks and the amount was payable. A policy is only as good as when you have to claim so we hope it never happens, but hopefully we are covered for most things if it ever does.

OK brought the policy at the beginning of Dec 2013 and am still waiting for it to track. I have submitted a claim and it was put on ice for 90 days at the later end of Feb it was submitted I am now a month further on and still a big fat NOTHING. The hassle of keeping an eye on this and chasing makes it seem very un worth while. Maybe next time I need to go else ware! Aviva has a great reputation as a company but if their cash back offers are this slow then what are they like when you make a claim heaven forbid! Rgs John

Have waited for over a year now and even though I have a policy and the transaction tracked, still no cashback despite numerous nudges - still waiting for merchant. Poor show Aviva - will not be renewing!!

It is stated that this merchant is "Faster Payment" of cashback! This is wholly untrue and topcashback have put my claim on ice for 3 months! Why say something if tcb and the retailer are not going to honour it? Also, the way which tcb sort merchant reviews automatically by highest ratings is very misleading, when it ought to be sorted by date with the most recent first so the tcb user can see if there are any recent problems!

Hopeless, 4 month waiting period before casback is paid, but of course when it is not forthcoming it is too late to put in a claim.

The reviews should show the newest 1st - not the highest ratings... Like the previous 6 experiences - poor. If you look at the whole page of recent reviews - not satisfied. For me, no cashback paid. Very disappointed. It says 'Another marketing channel was credited with the sale' - which is nonsense. I always clear cookies and restart before buying. Furthermore, very unhelpful when I tried to make a claim. I shall be avoiding them in the future.

i took the aviva offer of cashback on car insurance and have not received it. topcashback are chasing it up but it is 3 months now and nothing, so be very wary as you may not get it

5 months later & I'm still waiting for the cashback to appear on my account. Without including the cashback other insurers were cheaper so I'm not very happy with this retailer at all.

Avoid like the plague- cashback tracked but still not payable almost 4 months later. Haven't used Topcashback since (not that I blame them) and I'll most likely not renew with Aviva as I'm frustrated by this.

The cash back did not come through and I had to put in a claim. After waiting 6 months, I have just been told it is not going to be paid because Aviva say another company tracked the purchase after I went through Top cashback. Very disappointed, as I would probably gone with another company without this

Purchased combined home and contents insurance in February 2013 - cashback at this time was £80. Did not track. Submitted manual claim a week later. Cashback claim put 'on ice' until June 2013. It's now the middle of October and despite having sent 4 nudges still no sign of purchase being acknowledge and no sign of cashback.

Terrible, do not use. Purchased policy and error on the Aviva site led to the policy inception date being the day I paid for the insurance rather than the one I selected. Aviva customer service corrected the issue, however this caused my cash-back to stop tracking. Took the policy out in January this year, it is now September and I have just received notice that Aviva will not honour the cash back, despite the fact my policy is still active. Aviva very unhelpful, and topcashback not interested, massively disappointing, both companies seem to want to trick customers into purchasing insurance with promises of great cashback with no intention of actually paying.

Please read all the terms and conditions before applying for cashback with this merchant. I met all the criteria for cashback on a contents policy, but after several months of taking out the policy, Aviva declined the cashback, saying it was for a combined policy only. Top Cashback were very good in trying to dispute this on my behalf, but Aviva still will not pay out.....very disappointing. I will not use them again and I certainly would not recommend them to any of my friends or family.

Well, it took a long time to come through (took out the policy in April) but thanks to the Topcashback elves for chasing the £60 cashback, which made this policy very good value.

Buy insurance April 6th, but cashback didn't track so put in a claim after 10 days.It was put on ice for 120days as requested by Aviva and then beginning of July I received an email from tcb to say request had been sent and to be patient. A month later beginning of August had an email to check my account and found my £60 confirmed. Its now payable, thank you tcb for keeping me informed, great result, great deal.

NOT a happy bunny; bought a home policy from this merchant in April and it did not track. Lodged a missing cashback claim and was told it was frozen for 3 months for some reason, still waiting for merchant response. Can't see any good reason why I'm having to wait this long, and the cashback was a major part in my decision to use this company. Hoping that the topcashback elves manage to get my cashback eventually, but not holding out much hope!
