Back in 2016, our founders, Emilie and Deepak, tasted an ugly-but-delicious tomato at a market in Portugal. They realised we only ever see perfect-looking fruit and veg in supermarkets, and it tastes of nothing. They decided to dig deeper into how the food system works – and everyone at Oddbox is working to flip it on its head.
Farmers grow delicious fruit and veg, but it’s rejected because it’s “too odd” or “too many”. We make sure it doesn’t go to waste, and deliver it to doorsteps all over the UK along with loose refillables, flavour-packed ingredients and so much more. We want to help everyone do good, with food that tastes good.
So we’re getting back to cooking that’s joyful, creative and waste-free – and we’re getting back in tune with what’s growing outside the window, and the folks that grow it. We may be a little odd, but that all makes total sense to us.
Out mission is more taste, less waste. We’re working with our community to rescue fruit, veg and more, so we can do good with every dish. We’ve been a B Corp since 2020, and we’ve delivered almost 11 million boxes so far, rescuing more than 60 million kilograms of fruit and veg along the way. No unnecessary plastic or air miles – just delicious food that makes a difference to our planet and its people.
