5 European Holiday Destinations with Cashback

Posted on 28 May 2013 Posted in  'How To' Articles

When it comes to picking holiday destinations, we often think the further away from good old 'Blighty’ the better. But why spend more going long-distance, when there are some great get-a-ways right on our own global doorstep!

To give you some inspiration, here’s my pick of the best European escapes for Summer 2013 with cashback:

Hustle and Bustle: Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona Cashback

La Ramblas Barcelona

This vibrant city is not only packed full of things to see and do... but people too! Every summer people flock to the Catalan capital, and who can blame them? You’ll be mesmerized by the street performers and market stalls of The Ramblas – watch out for pick pockets though!  Delight in Gaudi’s iconic Sagrada de Familia, fly up Montjuic on the cable car for stunning views across the city, and stroll back down past the Font Magica for a display to dazzle the senses.

Try Jet2, with prices from just £199pp, and get £30.30 cashback!

Peaceful Paradise: Ionian Islands, Greece

Greek Islands Cashback

Greek Food

Steer clear of the more popular Greek islands, and head towards Kefalonia for a more relaxing holiday this summer. You’ll be welcomed by crystal clear waters, cloudless skies, and scenery that will no doubt take your breath away. Hire your own boat and hop from one secluded island to the next, whilst having a swim to cool off on the way – don’t forget your snorkel! Spend your evening in a Greek taverna and sample the local tasty treats; red wine, feta cheese and hand-picked olives. Beware – it’ll be very hard to leave at the end of the week!

Book your holiday with Thomas Cook and get 2.52% cashback.

Heaps of History: Bath, England

Bath Cashback

It is no wonder that this charming city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A beautiful blend of Georgian architecture, Roman history and quaint cobbled streets, Bath truly is a city for us Brits to be proud of. Take a step back in time as you walk around the natural hot spring Roman Baths, and in the afternoon watch the local team compete in a spot of rugby. Visit the Thermae Bath Spa in the evening, and swim in the naturally warm, mineral-rich waters of the rooftop pool, whilst you enjoy spectacular moonlit views overlooking Bath Abbey– the ultimate in romance and relaxation.

Awesome All-rounder Nice, France

Nice Holiday

Call it clichéd, but the Cote d'Azur's capital really does have something for everyone. Soak up the sun on the long pebbly beach, then wander inland through the fragrant Cours Saleya flower market to the Old Town. Here you'll get lost in the narrow streets that wind between beautiful buildings, boutiques, bars and bistros. At the heart of the Old Town is Place Rosetti - get an ice cream at Fenocchios and drink in the atmosphere with some live music. For something more active, take a hike up Mount Boron for fabulous views over the city.

Try Easyjet Holidays, with prices starting from just £152pp and get 4.54% cashback!

Perfectly Picturesque: Bruges, Belgium

Bruges Holiday Cashback

You may be put off by Colin Farrell's dark comedy 'In Bruges', but don't be! The winding canals, cobbled streets, and impressive medieval architecture more than make up for the lack of sun, sea, and sand in this picture-perfect city. Climb the 366 steps to the top of the Bell tower at noon to exercise your ear drums, and then head back down to tuck into a traditional snack of chips and mayonnaise for lunch! In the afternoon, take a boat trip down the canal, and don't forget to wash it all down with some delicious Beligum chocolate.

Travel on the Eurostar and get 2.02% cashback!

So there’s my pick. Tell us where you're all off to this summer!

Peter_Lanky29 May 13 - 16:02I will be going to York in July to see the Nigel Gresley locomotives at the railway museum, and the following month going to Glasgow. How unfashionable is that! From my home in Lancashire, all the best pleases are either close by or involve travelling in a northerly direction, imho of course.
