Why EDF?

Excellent customer service – we're rated 'Excellent' on Trustpilot.
Easy, simple and hassle-free – backed by the Energy Switch Guarantee.
You're with Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity – we're busy generating more British zero carbon electricity (*) than anyone to help keep future energy costs down for everyone and help cut UK carbon emission to nothing.

That's why we're also helping customers transform their homes with low carbon living solutions like air source heat pumps, solar panels and batteries, and everything you need to change to EVs from petrol or diesel cars. Plus with EDF, you can refer your friends and earn £50 each time.

*From 1 October to 31 December 2025 the energy price cap will be £1,755 a year. Our Simply Fixed Oct26v9 tariff has a typical bill price of £1,590 a year – £165 cheaper than Ofgem's October price cap. Exit fees apply.

Figures are based on Ofgem ‘typical’ consumption. 'Typical' yearly consumption is 2,700kWh electricity and 11,500kWh gas based on a national average of regional prices for a dual fuel customer with a standard electricity meter who pays by Direct Debit. 'Typical' consumption assumes the price cap does not change over a full year. In reality, the price cap changes every three months. Fixed tariff rates remain the same for the duration of the tariff and are not covered by the energy price cap.

The energy regulator Ofgem reviews and sets the maximum rates we can charge for gas and electricity on our variable tariffs. This is the energy price cap. The cap is reviewed every three months in January, April, July and October.

Please remember – it’s the standing charge and cost per unit of energy that’s a set rate – not your bill which will vary depending on how much energy you use.

See EDF's prediction for the price cap. It's updated weekly and can help you decide what's best for you. We use Ofgem's price cap methodology to predict future price cap levels. Our prediction could rise or fall, based mostly on changes in the wholesale cost of energy for future periods.

EV chargers to cut costs and carbon emissions

Electric vehicle owners are in luck with EDF Energy. The company’s range of EV tariffs are designed to fit all customers’ needs, whether you’ve already got an EV home charger or need one installed.

If you want to help the planet with an EV, you don’t want to pay through the nose for the privilege. EDF can help with that. These tariffs provide cheaper rates than normal to help you cut the costs of home charging and start driving with peace of mind. At the very least, it’s a chance to save money and Planet Earth at the same time.

EDF cutting carbon emissions and costs

Depending on your needs, there are three tariffs to choose from. Pod Point Plug & Power is a bundle providing both the charger and the tariff for it. Evolve is their tracker tariff, likely to go up and down in cost over its timeline. GoElectric is their fixed rate tariff that stays the same until it’s renewed.

Even better, each tariff is backed by zero-carbon electricity produced here in the United Kingdom. With less pollution produced by your car and the power that charges it, you can save cash and carbon in one fell swoop.
