Friends of the British Library

Friends of the Special Nursery

We are the charity of Aberdeen Maternity Hospitals Neo-Natal Unit for premature and sick babies. Our committee is made up of Parents and Nursing staff that want to give something back to the Unit by supporting the professionals who provide such a high standard of care. Having a baby is a life changing experience. If you do find yourself and your baby in the Neo-Natal Unit it most probably means that your little bundle has been born too early or too sick and no matter the outcome challenging times are ahead. Since 1984 we have helped hundreds of families through these difficult times. Many spend a few days with their baby in the Unit whilst other babies need specialist care for longer and the Unit becomes their second home.

Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust

The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust aims to reduce rural poverty in The Gambia through improving the health, welfare and productivity of working equines. A healthy working equine can increase a families income by 500%. Keeping horses and donkeys healthy in The Gambia is a real challenge, due to the prevalence of disease, poor nutrition, limited veterinary services and lack of owner education. Through a combination of owner education and the provision of veterinary services the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust can alleviate the suffering of working equines which in turn improves their productivity.
