Hastings Direct’s four-star rating on Trustpilot is largely down to people saying such things as “cheapest on the Internet” or “brilliant and easily the cheapest by miles”. Customers are also happy with what they describe as a reasonable excess and the fact their policy includes personal accident cover, while another was delighted to get good comprehensive cover at a reasonable price with lots of extras included.

One person who left feedback says Hastings beat their renewal quote by £500, while they are also thanked for always being friendly and helpful, providing a “great price for a young driver” and for the fact it is easy to manage a policy online. Declined my cashback with no reason. Followed the process and waited for quite a long time before it was declined. It's a gamble working out the best car insurance option when factoring in the cashback.

As with all other insurance companies, the chances of getting any cashback are about as good as the chances of seeing a unicorn. All sorts of fake reasons will be presented, usually that they can't trace the claim as coming from TCB. TCB will make minimal effort to obtain the money on your behalf because it doesn't need to, and none of the toothless regulatory bodies will make the slightest effort to support your case. If you challenge the claim, you will receive an insincere apology and a patronising response explaining how to get cashback to work better, despite the fact that like me, you have been using it for years and know exactly how it works. TCB is dishonest by defaulting all the best reveiws to the top of the list so you don't see the majority of bad ones. Even most of those giving positives have not yet received their cashback and probably never will. Marked as 5 starts to get it near the top, but really NO STARS.
