Cheap Halloween Ideas

TCB Halloween

The scariest night of the year is nearly upon us, with many planning to host a spooktacular Halloween party! But there’s no need to spend the earth to get your mates suitably scared – follow our guide to spookifying your house and costume on the cheap below.

Decor

Décor is crucial to any Halloween party and with a couple of hours and a little effort   you can create that haunted house feel.

One simple effect that requires little effort is to line the walls of your entrance hall with bin bags to create a dark and cavernous feel. Don’t forget to add glow-in-the-dark spiders and carved pumpkins to maximise the effect!

For those looking to put in a little more effort, here are some quick fire ways to decorate your house in spooky style.

Hanging ghosts

Gather a variety of different sized Styrofoam balls, drape fine mesh bags or flour sack cloths over them and draw on some eyes with a black marker. Try shredding the bottom of the mesh bags to give your ghosts a really creepy look, and hang them around the house.

Bats

Bats are synonymous with Halloween and no haunted home is complete without them.

All you need to make the bats is some black card and a template. Some good options can be found here and here. Simply cut them out and hang them from ceilings, below shelves and under the stairs. They can also be placed over lampshades to give off of a spooky shadow.

Try creating a swarm by sticking lots of bats to a blank wall.

Spider web

Another Halloween essential is the obligatory spider web. All you need is some string and masking tape and you can create yourself a web.

First of all, find yourself a suitable location and create a basic frame by putting one piece of string vertical and another horizontal to create a cross. All you need to do now is, starting from the middle, weave another piece of string in a spiral around the supporting strands until you have your web. When you’ve got enough spirals, add some supporting strands and, finally, the spider!

Costumes

When most people think about Halloween their thoughts will immediately turn to the costume they will be wearing for the big event.
