Bulb Is Cheaper

One Tariff For All

Become a Bulb energy supplier customer and you will not find a host of complicated Bulb energy tariffs, like other companies. That is because they keep things simple by offering members 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas tariffs. They invest in technology to help keep costs low and partner with companies who do the same.

Thanks to their single Vari-Fair tariff, you can be sure of always being on the best price, which will reflect the real cost of energy. If wholesale energy prices go down, Bulb will pass savings onto you, while if they go up, they will do their best to limit your price rise.

If they do have to increase your energy bills, they will always give you 60 days' notice of the price rise. The price you pay will depend on where you live. All you will need to do is enter your postcode and specify if you want to see dual fuel prices and whether you have an Economy 7 meter installed for your electricity. Sign up and get a little back with our Bulb energy cashback deals.

Bulb Features

Company History

Bulb was founded in 2015 by Amit Gudka and Hayden Wood, who met in 2013 when working in the energy industry.

Gudka was an energy trader at Barclays for eight years and was exposed to all sides of the industry, which gave him an in-depth understanding of it. The pair saw the same problems at all of the big energy suppliers — expensive rates, poor service, inefficiency and dirty energy — and decided to set up Bulb in a bid to lead a change in the energy industry.

One of the things they believed in was that renewable energy should not be seen as a luxury, which it was at the time, while they wanted their online experience to be simple, clear and easy to use. Based in east London, they want to make the whole industry better, which they are trying to do by making energy simpler, cheaper and greener.

They invest in technology to reduce customer utility bill costs and make greener energy in order to help protect the planet. They also put members first and listen to their customers, and are building an open energy company with an engaged, supportive community.

Their Energy

All Bulb customers will receive 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas.

They also make sure 10% of their gas comes from biomethane, which is gas produced from organic matter like household sewage and manure that is re-injected on to the grid.

Bulb buy their energy from independent, renewable generation sources throughout the UK, such as water, wind, biogen and anaerobic digestion generators in England, Scotland and Wales, while should they need to cover any shortfalls, they will purchase renewable energy from the wholesale market.

By being with Bulb, members are helping to protect the planet. The average member lowers their carbon impact by 3.4 tonnes of CO2 a year. That’s the hard work of around 1,689 trees.

Bulb Service

You will be able to keep on top of your energy usage through your personal Bulb account.

You can either sign in online or download their app to see how much gas and electricity you are using, submit meter readings for more accurate bills and check your current balance. If you are thinking of joining Bulb, the energy switching process will take just two minutes and you can be sure they will take care of the rest after that.

They will let your existing supplier, whether it is British Gas, E.ON or someone else, know you are leaving and all you will need to do is send Bulb a meter reading.

As an added bonus, if your previous supplier charges you an exit fee for leaving them, Bulb will refund you.
