Cashback claim tracked ok and then declined by the LaptopsDirect. No reason given and left late enough to ensure that missing cashback claim can't be lodged. Avoid.

Avoid... I brought my laptop 6 months ago, cashback has still not been paid, i questioned why & received the response that the order had been cancelled / returned (even though i am using the laptop now!) I would avoid they have cheap laptops but they are cheap for only 1 reason.

Laptops Direct have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I bought an Acer laptop from them and the DVD drive was faulty. They should have supplied a replacement laptop as it was returned to them in the first month. However, as I had not kept the original packaging they could only offer me a repair. I returned the laptop to them with the power supply and they lost the power supply, later claiming I never returned it to them. I had to pay them a £20.01 courier fee to return the laptop and this was refundable as the laptop was proved to be faulty, It took about six emails and four phone calls to get this refunded. I eventually got them to refund me the cost of the power supply but only after sending my complaint in writing to the Managing Director and marking it strictly private and confidential - for addressee only. If you buy anything from Laptops Direct and don't have any problems with it then they are OK. If you have any problems you will probably also get diabolical customer service, many emails not responded to and will get asked for the same information over and over again. Many responses are not relevant to the issue you have raised. I certainly wouldn't buy from this retailer ever again! But if you do and have a problem give their customer services team a chance to resolve it and then go straight to the MD in writing.

Cashback never paid, but that's the least of my concerns. My advice to anyone using this retailer is to take a screen print of the purchase page and email it to yourself so that you have genuine evidence at a later date. If this were the last laptop retailer on the planet, I would rather go without.

Decent prices and good cashback, BUT BEWARE - YOU MUST REPORT ANY PROBLEMS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF RECEIPT OF THE GOODS - if it arrives on a Friday, you must have informed them by Sunday or they will not help you at all. Sharp practice - I won't deal with them again.
