If you need help choosing from their great range of products, here are some handy tips for bed and mattress buyers.

The best type of mattress based on your sleeping position

Sleeping on your side is the most popular position in the UK, with 69% of sleepers in a BBC survey saying they did just that.

The best type of mattress for side sleepers is one which ranges from a soft to medium comfort grade.

This way, the vulnerable pressure points — which include the hips, elbows and shoulders — can be cradled.

In terms of mattress types, side sleepers can get away with any option, as long as it offers enough cushioning. Memory foam mattresses, as well as gel and latex mattresses, are good choices.

If you’re a front sleeper, you’re most at risk of waking up with a sore neck as it’s easy to overarch the natural curve of the spine in this position.

To help with this, front sleepers are advised to go for a firmer mattress to ensure their back remains straight.

Medium and firm mattresses are the best options if you sleep on your stomach. Because of the extra level of support needed, pocket spring and hybrid mattresses are recommended.

If you sleep on your back, you can benefit from a range of choices as their pressure points are less vulnerable.

However, it’s still important to ensure the natural alignment of the spine, so a medium to firm mattress is the best option.

Consider pocket spring, memory foam or even orthopaedic to ensure you wake up without any back pain.

If you’re not sure which sleeping position you adopt in the night, or if you find yourself tossing and turning, you have many choices.

However, it’s best to opt for something in the middle, with a medium comfort grade mattress recommended for those who adopt a range of sleeping positions.

Any medium grade mattress type is appropriate, though a combination mattress is a good go-to for support and cushioning.

The bedroom measuring guide

When buying a new bed or mattress, it’s important to consider the size of your bedroom too.

The easiest way to make sure a particular Sleep and Snooze bed fits in your room is to check the dimensions tab on the product page.

If you have a product on screen, scroll down to the tabs at the bottom and find the one labelled dimensions. Select the bed type (single, double, king etc) and you’ll see the length, width and height.

You’ll also need to make sure your bed is compatible with your room.

Once you understand the space the bed will take up, you should measure the room to make sure you’ve adequate space.

You’ll need to make sure you have enough space for other items of furniture too, like wardrobes, bedside tables and drawers, and room to move around.

There’s a room compatibility table on the Sleep and Snooze website which gives you guidance on the minimum room size needed for different bed sizes.
