Why does Tell a Friend have an expiry date?

You may have recently seen that we are now displaying an expiry date for your Tell a Friend referrals. Here are some questions you may have about this date showing:

Why does my Tell a Friend bonus now have an expiration date?

When we were making improvements to our Tell a Friend system, we located an issue where our system automatically stops checking the threshold has been met after three years. To ensure the smooth running of all Tell a Friend bonuses, we decided to keep this in place while also making sure the expiry timeframe for each of your referrals shows on your performance page. This is also something that now shows in the terms and conditions of our Tell a Friend scheme.

If I referred a friend before the expiration date was added, will this impact my Tell a Friend bonus?

We are more than happy to honour any Tell a Friend made before 6th Jan 2025 even if your friend takes longer than the displayed expiry date. If your friend takes longer than the expiry date please do reach out to Customer Service so they can ensure you are rewarded for this.

If I refer a friend after the expiration date was added, what will happen after the expiry date?

Going forwards, once an expiry has passed it will mean that the referral will no longer qualify and won't progress. However, we will always ensure there is a reasonable enough time for your friend to earn the threshold.
