The best supermarket Christmas snacks for 2025

Last updated: 04/12/2025

Christmas is an expensive time, and festive snacks are getting pricier, with chocolate tubs like Quality Street and Heroes costing as much as £7 each this year.

Here at TopCashback, we’re firm believers that saving money doesn’t mean cutting out all of life’s fun stuff. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to enjoy delicious food this holiday season.

To help you decide where to spend your money, we’ve been testing the best festive treats from five major UK supermarkets in the run-up to Christmas 2025.

We’ll let you know which products (both sweet and savoury) we love most, as well as how much they cost. And in the spirit of saving money, we’ll also give you the lowdown on how you can save on your supermarket shopping with TopCashback this Christmas.

The best supermarket Christmas treats for 2025

Our TopCashback colleagues have been busy testing sweet and savoury snacks from five different UK supermarkets. We bought snacks from M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, and our colleagues told us what they liked and didn’t like.

We’ve gone for products we’ve heard a buzz about, as well as unusual spins on traditional Christmas classics. All of the supermarkets we tested are retailers on TopCashback, which means you can earn a portion of your spend back just by clicking through from our site.

A variety of packaged holiday snacks and desserts are displayed on a white table with green tinsel decorations.

M&S Christmas snacks

M&S is a must-visit if you’re stocking up on luxury Christmas food and picky bits for your seasonal get-togethers. From Percy Pigs to luxurious mince pies, you can put together a spread of M&S Christmas food that looks as impressive as it tastes.

M&S Maple Bacon Flavour Combo Mix

A bowl of mixed vegetable snacks next to an open festive snack bag, with green and red tinsel decorations in the background.

If you’re looking for Christmas snacks that artfully balance sweet and salt, this maple bacon mix from M&S might be just the ticket. These savoury snacks have a good flavour without being overpowering. Isaac found this combo mix tasted ‘moreish and Christmassy,’ which is exactly what you want from a festive crisp if you ask us.

These could be a pretty affordable addition to your buffet table.

They’ll cost you £2.30 for a 150g bag, and there’s also a Turkey Feast variety (also £2.30) if that tickles your fancy.

M&S Rodney Reindeer Chocolate Brownie Pies

Box of M&S 4 Rodney Reindeer Pies, showing two pies with reindeer face designs, filled with Belgian chocolate brownie, in a red holiday-themed package.

If you love pastry treats but aren’t a fan of traditional mince pies, these alternative Christmas pies might be right up your street. Our TopCashback colleague DJ doesn’t love mincemeat, but found these chocolate brownie bites to be ‘really tasty and rich’.

TCB staff loved that these festive treats weren’t too sickly or sweet. Lyndon praised the ‘nice and subtle taste,’ Sam liked the ‘chocolatey’ brownie, and Liv found them to be ‘moreish,’ with ‘the right amount in a pack for family parties and gatherings’.

M&S The Original Very Merry Munch

Round tin labeled "M&S Food The original Very Merry Munch" featuring popcorn, pretzels, nuts, and chocolate, with a festive Santa face design on the lid.

Packaged in an adorable presentation tin, this will make a fantastic Christmas gift for someone who loves sweet treats.

Steve described The Original Very Merry Munch as ‘FAB-U-LOUS!’, Fran loved that it contained a good mix of her fave snacks, and Matt praised the ‘colourful mix,’ which had a ‘nice variety of textures’. However, at £10 a tin, they are pricey, and not all of our colleagues loved them.

Hayley thought the ‘popcorn consistency was odd,’ due to its chocolate coating. She also found the savoury snacks ‘a little too salty’. So, this festive tin might not be for everyone, but there’s no denying it’ll look fantastic as part of a Christmas spread or as a gift.

M&S Percy Pig Naughty & Nice Piglets

A paper bowl with pink and green pig-shaped gummy candies, with a bag labeled "Percy Pig" in the background.

For those looking for tasty Christmas sweets to snack on while watching TV over the holidays, some festive Percy Pigs from M&S are an excellent choice. Perfect as stocking fillers, Percy Pigs are not only delicious, but suitable for vegans too.

These Naughty & Nice Piglets are sour apple and sweet cherry flavour, which Jack found to be ‘Very, very delicious’.

In fact, Beccy reckons they should keep this flavour all year round… but do you agree?

Waitrose Christmas snacks

There’s a wide variety of Waitrose Christmas food to discover this year, making it easier than ever to put on a festive spread that looks almost too good to eat. The Waitrose 2025 Christmas collection is sophisticated, with a range of traditional sweet treats and mouthwatering savoury bites.

Waitrose Christmas Savoury Twist & Breadstick Selection

An open box of assorted breadsticks with three types of breadsticks arranged in a plastic tray on a white surface.

If you’re looking for a savoury snack with a nice, subtle flavour to complement your festive dips, this Waitrose breadstick selection is a great option.

One of our colleagues said these twists and breadsticks were ‘excellent,’ and would be making it onto their buffet list this year.

Steve thought they had a ‘lovely flavour’ and Sam liked the hints of rosemary.

Waitrose Cranberry & Clementine Stollen Bites

A box of nine cranberry and clementine stollen bites, dusted with powdered sugar and arranged in a grid, packaged in Waitrose & Partners branded packaging.

These sweet little bites of festive goodness were one of the most-loved snacks in our taste test. At £4 for a box of nine bite-sized stollen, they aren’t the cheapest by any means, but perhaps they’re worth the price?

Matt thought these stollen bites were ‘incredible,’ with a ‘fantastic mix of flavours,’ and James declared them a ‘must-buy’.

Shelly was a huge fan of these ‘lovely little bites of wonderfulness’.

Waitrose Christmas Lebkuchen Stars

A house-shaped tin with a red and gold design labeled "Finest Christmas Lebkuchen Stars" and a Fairtrade logo, placed on a white surface.

These Christmas lebkuchen stars received the most varied feedback of all the Waitrose Christmas food our testers tried.

Andy thought they were ‘nicely spiced,’ with a ‘good texture,’ and Nath thought the ginger gave the biscuits a ‘festive flavour’.

However, Fran thought they weren’t ‘spicy enough,’ and another taster (who’s a big fan of ginger) just found them disappointing all round.

Our overall verdict? If you’re big on ginger, you might find these a little mild for your taste. But if you prefer a more subtle flavour, they could be just right. The cute presentation tin also makes these lebkuchen stars a perfect Christmas gift.

Waitrose Christmas Chocolate Yule Log

A box of Waitrose Christmas Chocolate Yule Log with an image of the chocolate cake on the packaging, displayed on a festive purple and orange patterned box.

Are you a chocoholic? Live with someone who is? If so, this indulgent Waitrose chocolate yule log is a must-have for a special Christmas spread this year.

With ‘thick, chocolatey icing’ that Andy loved and the ‘perfect amount of chocolate,’ according to Amir, this could be a great choice for the Christmas dessert after your main meal.

If we had to mark it down, Shell doesn’t reckon it necessarily looks as good as it tastes: ‘I wouldn’t say it’s a very impressive centrepiece’.

Morrisons Christmas snacks

Whether you need snacks for a big gathering or something to binge in front of the TV, Morrisons have a range of sweet and savoury treats at fantastic prices this year. Bag a bargain when you shop using your More Card, as lots of Morrisons Christmas food and snacks are discounted for More members.

Morrisons The Best Skin On Pigs in Blankets Flavour Ridged Crisps

A paper bowl filled with ridged crisps sits in front of a packet labeled "The Best Hand Cooked Skin On Pigs in Blankets Flavour Ridged Crisps.

These Christmas crisps from The Best range at Morrisons are a yummy option if you love bacon-flavoured snacks. While a fair few of our TCB colleagues argued they didn’t taste exactly like pigs in blankets, that’s not to say they didn’t enjoy them.

Rob thought they were ‘really tasty,’ and Natasha enjoyed the ‘lovely smoky flavour with a hint of herbs’.

In fact, the herbiness of these savoury snacks was picked up by quite a few of our tasters. Rhi thought the aftertaste was really nice, but Cristina found them too herby for her taste.

Morrisons The Best Truffle & Parmesan Crisps

A bowl of truffle and Italian cheese flavor crisps sits in front of the opened bag, with Christmas decorations visible in the background.

These unusual Christmas crisps from Morrisons might divide the room at your next festive gathering.

If you like the taste of truffle, then you’ll likely enjoy them, although they were a little overpowering for a few of us.

Beccy told us she enjoyed the ‘lovely strong truffle taste,’ Greeshma said they’re ‘definitely worth buying,’ and Andy found the flavour ‘a bit overwhelming to start with, but it mellows out nicely’.

When it came to those less enamoured with these crisps, Cristina was concerned that the truffle flavour ‘would overpower anything else you eat’. She also thought ‘they would be better with a milder truffle taste’.

Morrisons The Best All Butter Cheddar Cheese & Chutney Bites

A box of The Best Cheddar Cheese & Chutney Bites, featuring images of the bites, cheddar cheese pieces, and chutney on the packaging.

A decadent addition to any festive spread, these Cheddar Cheese & Chutney Bites were a favourite among our tasters. Andy loved the ‘slightly tangy, buttery taste,’ Alia found them to be ‘flavourful and very moreish,’ and Sam described them as ‘very cheesy, crumbly and crunchy’.

They might be a popular item on your buffet table, so Shell recommended buying a few boxes in case they get snapped up quickly.

Bag yourself a bargain with the current Morrisons 2 for £3.50 deal on assorted savoury snacks, which include cheddar cheese crumbles and parmesan & garlic twists.

Morrisons The Best Belgian Milk Chocolate Florentines

A box of "the Best" Belgian Milk Chocolate Florentines, containing six pieces, displayed on a white surface with festive green and red decorations in the background.

These premium Florentine biscuits from Morrisons will make a tasty treat for guests with a sweet tooth over the Christmas season.

Katie praised the ‘good, thick level of chocolate,’ and Lindsey enjoyed the varied mixture of ingredients, which included candied fruit peel, almonds and sunflower seeds.

As they’re coated with milk chocolate, they’re a pretty sweet bite. Katie said she’d have preferred a darker or more bitter chocolate to balance out the sweetness.

Morrisons The Best Dubai Inspired Chocolate Assortment

A box of nine pistachio Belgian chocolates with colored toppings, labeled "Dubai Inspired Pistachio Belgian Chocolates" from "the Best" brand.

Try out the latest chocolate trend from the comfort of your own home this Christmas with Dubai-inspired chocolate from Morrisons.

Traditionally made with shredded filo pastry, pistachio and tahini, Dubai chocolate is known for being indulgent, with multiple contrasting textures. Our team enjoyed these chocolates, with Hazel praising the ‘nice creamy soft centre,’ and the ‘lovely’ nut topping.

Cristina described these bite-sized chocolates as being ‘perfect for entertaining’. James was glad the portions were small because these chocolates have a very rich filling: ‘I can't eat many, but they’re so good!’

Tesco Christmas snacks

This year’s Tesco Finest range is impressive in scale, with at least seven different types of panettone alone. There are big discounts up for grabs when you scan your Clubcard, making it easier than ever to put on a festive feast on a budget.

Tesco Finest Tortilla Rolls Spicy Maple

A paper bowl of Tesco Finest Spicy Maple Tortilla Rolls sits next to the product bag on a white surface with green holiday tinsel in the background.

These spicy maple rolls make for a less conventional, but just as delicious, savoury Christmas snack. Even though they might not look particularly special, the consensus was that these crisps tasted ‘amazing,’ with a ‘nice blend of savoury and sweet’.

Clare liked that these snacks were ‘different,' Hayley loved the ‘hint of spice,’ and Lauren found the flavour to be ‘enjoyably spicy and warm, but not overpowering’.

The rolled shape of these snacks also makes for a very satisfying crunch.

If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary to add to your festive spread this year, these spicy snacks are an unconventional choice.

Tesco Lightly Salted Christmas Tree Tortillas

A plate of red and green Christmas tree-shaped tortilla chips next to an open bag labeled "Christmas Tree Tortillas" and festive decorations.

Just like the spicy maple rolls, a fair few of our colleagues were let down by the appearance of these Christmas tree tortillas.

This is likely because of the colour of the crisps, which is down to the beetroot and spinach ingredients. The shape of the crisps was a plus for many, with Fiona praising the ‘fun shape, perfect for Christmas nibbles’.

However, our team was blown away by the taste of these humble little Christmas crisps.

‘What a delight,’ says Shelly, ‘they would be a great addition to a party spread’. Matt also said they’d make a great party food, with ‘just the right amount of salt’. These crisps were singled out for having a really good crunch, paired with a well-balanced, salty flavour.

Tesco Finest Limoncello Panettone

A box of Tesco Finest Limoncello Panettone featuring an image of the sliced cake, festive decorations, and branding details.

Our tasters loved the limoncello panettone from this year’s Tesco Christmas food range. ‘Absolutely gorgeous!’ says Shelly, ‘Just the right amount of lemon taste, with a great amount of candied citrus peel’.

Beccy described this panettone as ‘lovely and moist,’ with a lemon flavour that wasn’t too strong, and Natasha found it ‘very moreish’. This is a fantastic modern spin on the traditional panettone, perfect for anyone who doesn’t love raisins and sultanas.

Tesco Finest Sticky Toffee & Panettone Pudding

A Tesco Finest Sticky Toffee Panettone Christmas Pudding box is shown against a festive background with green tinsel.

Another star of the show, this Tesco Finest Sticky Toffee & Panettone Pudding truly knocked it out of the park.

Andy found this Christmas dessert to be ‘really yummy,’ and had ‘no notes,’ while Shelly said it ‘smelled delicious,’ and described it as a ‘Christmas pudding hybrid that would be lovely with a mulled wine’.

Even if you’re not a fan of overly sweet puddings, you might still be won over by this festive fusion. James doesn’t like sticky toffee, and even he thought this dessert tasted really good.

Tesco Merry Mince Pies

A round pie with a star design on top sits on a festive tablecloth decorated with green leaves and red berries.

We held a full mince pie taste test in the run-up to Christmas this year, with 15 TopCashback colleagues blind-tasting 10 supermarket mince pies.

Tesco’s offering came in a respectable fifth place, although it was their price that held them from scoring better, not their taste. They came joint first with Sainsbury’s on flavour, thanks to the tasty fruit filling and buttery, golden pastry.

Fiona thought these mince pies had ‘great pastry and mincemeat,’ and Sunita said she’d ‘happily eat one or two.’

Check out our Mince Pie Taste Test for the full rundown of this year’s results.

Sainsbury's Christmas snacks

Enjoy a taste of luxury without the premium price tag when you buy your Christmas snacks from Sainsbury’s this year. You can also often get discounts on seasonal favourites with your Nectar card, so keep an eye out for purple Nectar Prices when you shop.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Roast Turkey Dinner Crisps

A bowl of ridged potato crisps in front of a Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Turkey Roast Dinner Flavour crisps bag, with green and red tinsel in the background.

If there’s ever a good time to combine crisps and a roast dinner, December is surely that time. These Taste the Difference ridge-cut crisps are flavoured with roast turkey dinner flavour seasoning, rosemary and thyme, and they were a big hit with our tasters.

While some people thought they tasted like roast chicken, others could taste a strong turkey flavour. Jack said they were ‘delightful’ and Cristina described them as ‘very addictive, with a great balance of flavours’.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Stollen Slices

An open box of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Stollen Slices, showing sugar-dusted fruit cake slices with marzipan inside a plastic tray.

Another one for those with a sweet tooth, these stollen slices from Sainsbury’s were described as ‘very moist, but not heavy,’ with an ‘absolutely delicious’ marzipan flavour.

Served in slices rather than as one cake, these little bites of goodness are ideal for sharing.

And with a careful balance of sultanas, marzipan, brandy and butteroil, they taste both buttery and fragrant. Shell told us that ‘the sweetness hits the spot,’ so we reckon they’ll make a tasty treat on a cold winter night.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Belgian Chocolate Shortbread Stars

Box of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Belgian Chocolate Shortbread Stars, featuring star-shaped shortbread cookies coated in chocolate and topped with crunchy pieces.

One of the nicest-looking Christmas treats we tried this year, these chocolate-coated Christmas biscuits will look fantastic as part of a festive spread.

Coated with Belgian milk chocolate and sprinkled with orange sugar pieces, these shortbread stars are bound to be a hit with adults and kids alike this winter.

Rob thought they were ‘really decorative and well-presented,’ and had a ‘nice and chocolatey’ taste. Matt described the shortbread as ‘incredible,’ and Nath even expressed concern that he could easily overindulge.

Sainsbury's Mince Pies

A Christmas-themed pie with a tree-shaped pastry decoration on a festive holly and berry patterned tablecloth.

Decorated with sweet little Christmas trees, these unique mince pies from Sainsbury’s were crowned the winner of our 2025 Mince Pie Taste Test.

With our taste test team ranking them best out of 10 mince pies for taste and consistency, they’re a fantastic choice for your grazing table this Christmas.

And not only do they taste delicious, but they’re more affordable than the mince pie offerings at most other supermarkets this year.

Aldi Christmas food

Aldi have some truly delicious snacks on offer this festive season, and they’re incredibly affordable compared to other supermarkets too.

If you’re looking for authentic-tasting Italian Christmas treats, Aldi’s Specially Selected panettone came first in our 2025 Panettone Taste Test (and it’ll only cost you £5.99!).

You’ll also find plenty of showstopping Christmas desserts, from a classic iced Christmas cake to a sophisticated raspberry and pistachio yule log.

Lidl Christmas food

If you’re shopping for Christmas dinner essentials and festive snacks at Lidl this winter, you’ll find lots of tasty and inexpensive options.

They have a wide selection of Christmas puddings on offer this year, including unconventional flavours like spiced toffee & honey lebkuchen and orange & clementine.

When it comes to pastries, Lidl’s Favorina mince pies came third out of 10 supermarkets in our 2025 Mince Pie Taste Test, so we’d definitely recommend these.
