Going in with a firm idea of exactly what you want to buy will help you avoid making impulse purchases.

Setting yourself a budget will also serve you well. If you have an exact product you want to buy and know how much it usually costs, it’ll be a lot easier to tell if you’re actually getting a bargain or not (one retailer's Black Friday price for a certain product might be more expensive than another retailer's regular price for the exact same thing).

Do your research before the main event

Black Friday discounts will vary between brands. While some retailers may start their Black Friday sale early and keep their prices slashed for weeks, others might not acknowledge Cyber Week at all.

Make sure they’re a trustworthy retailer

If you’ve never heard of the brand before, do a bit of research before parting with any money. If they have a string of bad reviews or their website doesn’t look legit, it’s probably best to avoid them.
