Source BMX was founded by brothers Rich and Marc Moore, who had begun BMX riding at the ages of six and four respectively at their local track in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.

They competed in many races around the world and, in 1998, Marc was ranked third in the world in his age group for racing. Rich, meanwhile, was also pursuing a career in BMX photography, but by 2003, there was a real need for a shop which could cater for the BMX community.

The Source opened its doors in March 2003. Situated in Bexhill, the small shop carried bikes and essentials to support the local BMX scene. Through the creation of their first website in 2004, the business grew, outgrowing several shops and warehouses along the way.

This allowed them to invest in new warehouses and more stock, and push their love of BMX to a bigger audience. In 2009, they moved to new premises in Hastings. It was an old church with two halls — one they used for a shop and the other for a skatepark, The Source Bowl. However, between 2016 and 2018, they took things a step further, acquiring and renovating a derelict building and turning it into The Source Park.

Situated under the seafront at Hastings, it’s the world’s largest underground skatepark and houses the Source shop. It’s also home to their international BMX event, The Battle of Hastings. They now supply BMX bikes and parts throughout the world and have their own facilities in the USA and Germany.
