Heathrow Express — Travel the Smarter Way

Heathrow Express Logo

If you are jetting off to Europe or further afield from Heathrow Airport, hopping on the Heathrow Express is the fastest way to get to your departure terminal from London Paddington. Their trains run every 15 minutes, which is the same as the journey time to Terminals 2 and 3. Travelling to Terminal 5 will take a further six minutes, while if you are flying from Terminal 4, free transfers run from Heathrow Central every 15 minutes and will get you there in four minutes.

Passengers can use various Railcards on the service, while hopping on the train will mean you will not have to worry about paying for airport parking. Launched in 1998, the non-stop service carries an average of 17,000 passengers a day, with the private rail company running up to 150 trains a day and operating the stations at Heathrow Airport Terminals 2 and 3.

Check out single & return ticket prices and the cheaper deals you can make use of if you buy further in advance, while you will also find a Heathrow Express schedule providing timetable information, a Heathrow Terminal map so you plan your journey when catching flights and information on Heathrow departures and arrivals.

If you are travelling between Heathrow and the city, Paddington offers excellent transport links to destinations throughout central London by taxi, bus or London Underground. TopCashback members can save on bookings with our cashback deals, while you might also find Heathrow Express discount codes available.

Heathrow Express Features

Online Tickets and Collections

Booking Heathrow Express tickets online is quick, convenient and simple — and will allow you to take advantage of the best available fare.

You can also choose how and when you want your ticket, and they can even send it straight to your mobile if you are in a hurry. Book Business First or Express Saver return tickets online and they can send printable tickets via email or a digital barcode ticket which you will receive via SMS, while if you download their smartphone app for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, you can receive them on your phone.

With email train tickets, just print them out and hand them to their on-board staff. The printout will be valid for both journeys if you are booking a return trip. With mobile tickets, you will be sent an SMS containing a link to a barcode which their on-board staff will scan.

The same barcode will be valid for both legs of a return journey. However you choose to receive your tickets, make sure you save yourself some money with our cashback offers and Heathrow Express discount codes, if available.

No matter the destination, travellers can be sure of having enough space on their journey to or from London Heathrow as you can leave all of your luggage on the ample racks near the doors of Heathrow Express trains.

This means you can just sit back in their comfortable seats. If you need more room, or want to catch up on some work, you will benefit from more legroom and a personal table in first class.

You can also keep up with everything happening in the world thanks to their on-board Express TV service, which will provide you with BBC World News, the weather and entertainment clips, as well as information about your journey. If you have lots of luggage, young children or have mobility issues, there are no steps on Heathrow Express trains, meaning you have level platform access, while the free 4G-enabled Wi-Fi will keep you connected en-route.

Interesting Heathrow Express Facts

Heathrow Express is the fastest way to get from central London to Heathrow Airport if you are catching a flight, but there are some other interesting facts about the service you might not be aware of.

Since being launched in June 1998, more than 100 million people have made the journey between Paddington station and one of the Heathrow terminals. Heathrow Express was the first train company to offer e-ticketing so customers could buy them online and a fully functioning train ticket app, allowing customers to buy and receive via their phone.

In December 2009, they made Paddington station the first in the UK to offer flight information display screens and airline check-in services, while their trains have saved enough energy over the past decade to have boiled 400 million kettles. The service has also saved 204 million kilograms of carbon emissions since launch and Heathrow Express offers passengers a 54% reduction in carbon emissions over a taxi.
