The story of the Simba mattress started in 1979, when they supplied their very first spool of thread to a Derbyshire mattress factory.

The family thread business quickly expanded across the world and it has now been used in more than 50 million mattresses in over 35 countries. In 2002, they came up with the idea of using their thread to create their own mattresses and decided to branch out into mattress design and supply.

Despite selling more than a million mattresses, their aim was to create the perfect mattress — a high-tech solution which would adapt to your body for exceptional support. They brought together the three leading experts in their own industries — cutting-edge design, foam and springs — to create a mattress for the perfect night's sleep.

They began with three layers of foam and experimented with different combinations, then set about designing a spring which would fit inside a rolled mattress. The revolutionary conical pocket spring they developed proved to be the missing ingredient, while they also developed their own synthetic top layer latex, called Simbatex, which added a luxurious layer of comfort without trapping moisture.

They used research profiles from more than 10 million sleepers to create their prototypes, then tested and improved it to create a mattress engineered for sleep.
