Eurocamp was founded in 1973, when Alan Goulding took his first group of holidaymakers, who were looking for freedom and laid-back adventures, to Brittany in France.

Interest in the type of holidays they offered grew during the 1980s and bookings soared. As a result, they began to offer a wider range of destinations to their list and added mobile homes to their accommodation options. This helped them secure their place as the market leader in camping holidays. In 1981, they were bought by London-based retail group Combined English Stores Plc.

They added smaller competitors to the business before being floated on the stock market in 1991. They have continued to grow and are now part of the European Camping group, which is a specialist in outdoor holidays. The early 1990s also saw Eurocamp and Keycamp become sister companies, while in 2013, the two united to form a single company offering a wider choice of locations for Eurocamp holidays than ever.
