The Mouse from The Gruffalo is a very popular option amongst younger children.

What do you need?

  • Brown clothes

You can always make your ears and tail but if you want a quick options these are available on eBay. You don’t have to buy Face Paint Crayons either, you can always draw whiskers and a nose with an eyeliner pencil.

Paddington Bear - Michael Bond

Paddington Bear is a very popular option due to the 2014 and 2017 film releases. It is also a great excuse to be allowed marmalade sandwhiches.

What do you need?

  • Red hat and blue coat - £17.99 eBay

It’s perfect for kids who want to help make their costume, you can get your mask from Hobbycraft and let them paint it. Keeps them entertained and means less work for you. If they are feeling really adventurous they can make their own paddington suitcase for the day too, all the instructions are on Hobbycrafts website. Team this with a red hat and blue coat and you have a very cute Paddington Bear costume.

Thing 1 / Thing 2, The Cat In The Hat - Dr Seuss

This is perfect if your little one wants to dress up with their best friend.

What do you need?

  • ‘Thing1’ and ‘Thing 2’ wigs - £5.75 eBay
  • Print out ‘Thing 1’ and ‘Thing 2’ templates from google
  • Two red t-shirts

All you need to do is print out the templates from google and stick these on the red t-shirts. Team this with a blue wig from eBay and you have two brilliant costumes for very little.
