Announcing TopCashback Plus Membership

Hi TopCashbackers,

We'd like to announce that you can now get even more, through our TopCashback Plus membership level. And at the same time, we'd also like to introduce a new name to our existing service - TopCashback Classic (which will continue to be just as good as always).

TopCashback Plus
TopCashback Plus members will receive an enhanced level of membership. This means that you’ll receive an exclusive cashback bonus of up to 5% added to all transactions, enhanced extras like the Tell-a-Friend bonus and other great perks like the removal of the sponsored adverts around the site. It will be completely free to join as a TopCashback Plus member, but in return for us bumping up your earnings and improving your site experience, we’ll retain £5 from your cashback pay-out each year. If you don’t earn any cashback throughout the year then we won’t deduct anything at all, so it’s a win-win situation!

TopCashback Plus Features

TopCashback Classic
TopCashback Classic accounts will keep the great service that existing members of TopCashback have so far enjoyed – we do not want to take anything away from our loyal members! This means that Classic members will still get all of the cashback we get from the merchant (along with a 1% cashback bonus added on as standard), will still be able to earn a £10 Tell-a-Friend bonus, can still get their pay-out using our 5% bonus methods, can still match higher cashback rates found elsewhere, and will still have access to over 3,800 merchants, including our ‘faster paying merchants’ where you’ll get your cashback up to 8 weeks quicker - the list goes on and on... This level of service will stay, as it always has been, completely free to join and use.

So what does this mean for me?
If you were already a TopCashback member before these new levels were introduced, then everything on your account will remain exactly the same. However, as a loyal, existing member, we’re offering you the chance to take advantage of all the benefits that Plus membership holds for 3 whole months (and don’t forget, that includes enhanced Tell-A-Friend rates and a typical 5% bonus on all of your cashback earnings.) If, during the 3 month trial, you decide that you would actually prefer a Classic account, then you can downgrade without a fuss and we promise we won’t be too offended - but you DO get to keep any cashback bonuses and enhanced Tell-a-Friend rates that you've already benefitted from.

Just to check if this cashback thing really works. I got #52.50 for switching to first utility on the 18th of October 2013. Up to now nothing has been paid to me. I recommended some friends and they keep asking me if I got anything yet, and because I haven't, they no longer trust it. I also stopped to use it until I see the results for sure.

I would upgrade to Cashback Plus if it would get me the cashback that QuickQuid have denied me despite me complaining numerous times to Top Cashback and being fobbed off every time. Once your 30 day free trial has ended you will automatically remain on the 'Plus Membership', and it is at this point that you will be asked to pay the £5.00 fee.

If you wish to downgrade to Classic Membership you must do this before the free trial ends.

I was being automatically signed up for TopCashback plus free trial when it first rolled out, and was given the impression that the plus membership will end after three months, and not being informed or notified at all that an automatic renewal to plus membership would happen once the trial ends!

I am not happy!!! I checked the date my free trial ended and it was the 11 of sept, yet I find that I am still a 'plus' member despite having made hardly anything extra as a result of the free trial! I have just had a Caesarean section and have not been able to checks account until now and a certainly cannot find how to get off this 'plus' service I certainly don't think it benefits me as it will cost me more than it saves me!!! Please remove this immediately and I trust there will be no charge for the 9 days that this has gone on for!

I've just had a look at your account and can see that the 5% Top-up of your cashback has been added to your transaction. If we are advertising a cashback rate of 2%, Classic members will see 2.02% Cashback ( which includes a 1% Top-up of the cashback) and Plus members will see 2.1% (Which includes 5% Top-up of the cashback amount).

I think the service to date has been brilliant, no charges and you even get 1% Extra, what other company gives you money for free and then gives even more. Clearly you have pushed yourself to give as much back as possible without a membership fee and glad to see that you still offer that. I think it's unrealistic for people to ask for further improved services as well without somehow getting the finance to do it. Other sites take £5 and don't give anything extra at all, they keep the bonuses for themselves which is fine that's their decision but I praise TCB for their work. This way gives me the decision and ability to save much more, Rock on TCB, I get it !

A shame you had to go down this route, you would of been better off fixing the things that don't work well with the service rather than getting greedier.
It really was good the way it was but now your trying to create a divide and it's a change that isn't required.
This is not good for TCB, and most people will pay without really doing the sums.
This might lead me to putting less through TCB and a more through other sites. It has certainly made me think now whereas before it was TCB all the way.

So assuming you don't value the extra service (not saying I don't!), You have to earn over £100 cash back per year for it it be worth while and absorb the £5 fee.

If you earn anything between £50-100 pa you are better off on the classic as you won't lose the £5 charge.

Seems to make sense to me - looks like a good deal.

At the moment it's 5% Across the board, but the 'up to' was put in as a safety net in case there was a merchant down the line where it just wasn't possible for us to pay the full 5% Out for whatever reason.

The new account is just extra if I want it, 105% Rates, better referral fees and a dedicated support team - who I presume will get questions answered quicker. The membership fee is based on your earnings for each year individually. So if you earn £50.00 In year 1 we will deduct £5.00 At the end of your year. Then in year 2 if you don't earn anything more but still have cashback in your account from year 1, no fee will be deducted because you have no new earnings for year 2.

I will be signing up for this free trial.....At the end of the day its been a fantastic free service that I have been rewarded & Benefited from...Unlike other sites that offer this and that for free but then you have to go though time consuming q&A's only to be asked for your bank details (hence not free at all!).......The £5 fee is peanuts for a year but I hope you never go down the same route as other 'free' sites where you have to pay a fee to upgrade from the classic account to the Plus acc to fully reap the benefits. A certain other cashback site automatically put me on their paid for premium service, without being able to change for a year. I registered here when they did that, and the Clubcard payout is the icing on the cake. We're going to make it clear on your account how long to go on your Free Trial, so you should always be in control. Any bonuses from the Free Trial period will be ringfenced and not subject to fees or lost if you choose to downgrade later. The admin fee will only apply after the trial if you stay on the plus service, and will only be deducted from any cashback earnings. Nothing will be taken if you don't earn anything .
