| | Nearly audio nirvana | Written on 20 April 2008 | These are a great pair of headphones, albeit that they are very bright and fast... They really need to be partnered with darker sounding equipment to make them sound their best...
Bass-heads should look away, these really wouldn't be for you (If you really want Sony, and want bassy 'phones, try the MDR-V6 / MDR-7506 (which are EXACTLY the same product, just one is marketed at consumers, the other, prosumers!!)), but - if you want to hear every nano-detail that can be retrieved from your music, give these a whirl!!
...I would definitely recommend a dedicated headphone amplifier though, and also note that these 'phones are made with only a 6.3mm plug, so will NOT fit iPods or otherwise without an adapter...
I've listened to a whole lot of head-phones in my time, and I can say that these (in my opinion) far excel the likes of the Grado RS1 in terms of tonality / speed, but not in rockability... For comparison purposes, these are most like the (2005) BeyerDynamic DT880 in terms of presentation, so if you don't like them, you won't like these... |  | |
